Research is grouped into four axes: skeletal health and regenerative medicine, using next-generation biomaterials, 3D printing and AI to build patient-specific implants and prostheses; microbiology, immunology and inflammatory/soft-tissue disease, including saliva- or blood-based early detection of oral cancer and periodontal disease; neuroscience and pain, covering systemic effects of untreated oral disease and oral appliances for sleep apnea and bruxism; and community knowledge transfer with vulnerable and under-represented groups, including tele-dentistry. The Faculty holds two Canada Research Chairs.
